Back online again! Surprisingly we managed to get onto the blog here in China!!! Pictures that follow are a continuation of the last posting- journey from south to north of Thailand!
In the meantime- here we are in Beijing and all is well. We picked up our Russian transit visas today!!!!! YAY!!!!! That was no easy task, let me tell you! Hours of deliberation, research and running around... both in Laos and China! But finally passports are in-hand and we are booked on the Trans-Siberian this coming Saturday at 23.00! Naturally we are only allowed to stay for 9 days due to all the sculduggery we would have got involved with whilst in Russia...paranoid Russians! Anyways, we have just enough time to get in to Moscow and out again the following day, into Kiev, Ukraine! We are slowly moving towards civilisation as we know it yet again!
Yippee Europe here we come!!!
Until then we will continue to enjoy the slow life here in Beijing which really is a pretty cool town to be spending time in. We're staying at Lasse's, whom we got to know on the Trans-Mongolian on our way out and who now lives here, we're eating steamed dumplings with chilli sauce..mmm...and sleeping in and sitting in cafes watching the world go by. You might think that surely we would have had enough of that after a year of travelling, but with such little time left we are really trying to enjoy ever minute to the max!
