Leaving Krasnoyarsk 20/08/09

Sunset views of Krasnoyarsk from the train!
World's biggest train set! Chris couldn't even climb aboard.
Standard train snack with the obligatory Russian refreshment- spot the English addition!
Leaving Krasnoyarsk, headed for Irkutsk and the world's largest lake- Baikal!
Couldn't leave Krasnoyarsk without a party with the locals! Funny how there are never any good-looking fellas about eh!

Back on!

Arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam this morning and blog is back on for us!!!!
Have tonnes of photos to post but will take a little while to get back up to date as have moved around quite a bit since the last pics: Irkutsk and Lake Baikal 3 days, Mongolia 3 weeks, Beijing 10 days, Shanghai 3 days, Yangshuo 1 week and now in Vietnam!

Really happy to be in Vietnam now- one month in China is enough- for now anyway! Scenery and countryside truly stunning and the absolute favourite by far, though Chris a little dismayed at Chinese driving skills, AND the coughing up and spitting of phlegm has been quite an experience!!!

Let's see if we can get some photos up!

Chinese internet police!

Hello all!
Arrived in Shanghai by overnight train this morning. Unfortunately not in the luxury of a 2-berth compartment, this time! Spent the whole evening in the restaurant cart and met a lovely Dutch couple whom we spent the evening drinking beer, eating pistachios and chatting with, before returning to our compartment and its grumpy Chinese sleepers! One of the first Chinese grunpies we've met actually- the Chinese are overall very nice, helpful and polite people!!!!

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that being in China is not easy internet-wise! There are blocks on several websites and our blog does not seem to work properly, hence no pictures recently. We'll keep trying, but just so you're aware- there may not be any more photos before Vietnam.

We'll be travelling inlands on Saturday or so, towards Guilin and Yangshou (for those of you who are interested in the details) for some rural action; village-hopping, rice-paddies, camping, mountains and some real getting lost in the countryside. We've had it with big cities and capitals now!!!

That's it for now. We're off to some bar in the French Concession district of Shanghai called 'Face Bar'!

Hadet bra!
