Car journey south to north of Thailand

Setting off from Khao Lak in our Budgens rental car- to drive the 1200 km from the south of Thailand to the Thai-Laos border. All in order to avoid Bangkok and the surrounding Red Shirt demonstrations and road blockages!
Chris was obviously delighted to be back in a car again- no more dodgy bus rides for at least 4 or 5 days!

The mountains on the horizons- the closest we got to Burma! Unfortunately...

Our Phetchaburi prison cell room!

Found the most beautiful cafe tucked away in the very Thai town of Phetchaburi- the owner a great lover of jazz and European football- not very Thai at all... Made an unexpected 2 day stop-off on our journey north as we enjoyed the town so much.
Spent a lovely couple of chilled evenings here playing cards and drinking beer!

Phetchaburi monkey business!

  1. Car journey south to north of Thailand is really interesting. Getting a rental car is easy in cities but some formalities is required. Before hiring a rental car one should follow the terms and conditions of the company for avoiding extra charge. Rental car really helps a lot to newcomers for traveling.
